Types of Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu)
Article by Leslie T
Shaolin Martial Arts
Being an important part of Chinese traditional martial arts, Shaolin martial arts are considered to be the authentic Chinese kungfu. Originally, Shaolin Kungfu was developed from the Shaolin Temple, in the region of Song Mountain. While cultivating in the thick forest of the high mountains, monks created a set of body-building exercises by learning the postures of flying, jumping and running from birds, beasts and fish. Gradually, these body-building exercises developed into a sort of boxing through long practice and improvement, which is generally called ‘Shaolin boxing’. Shaolin martial arts include boxing, stick art, spear art, sword art and so on. Shaolin boxing is strong and powerful. It is a combination of attack and defence thus making it practical for real fights. Stick art played an important role in wars. It can not only defeat the enemy and achieve victory, but also improve health and promote longevity. Spear is regarded as the king of the ancient weapons. Spear arts are various, including Shaolin spear, Yezhan spear, Lanmen spear and so on. Sword arts have a far-reaching influence on the Shaolin martial arts. The vigorous sword dance brings people a wonderful aesthetic feeling.
Wudang Martial Arts
Wudang martial arts are greatly related to the Chinese native religion – Taoism. It is said that Zhang Sanfeng, a Taoist who lived in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) created Wudang martial arts. The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) saw the formal popularity of Wudang Kungfu. In order to promote Wudang Taoism all over China, Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty assembled 300,000 civilian workers to build 33 Taoist complexes in Mt. Wudang. It took them 13 years to finish the whole construction. Wudang Kungfu emphasizes the strengthening of bones and muscles and internal cultivation, and encourages the use of softness to conquer the unyielding. It doesn’t advocate attack but at the same time it is hard to defeat. Shadow boxing, Bare-hand fighting in six steps, Wuji boxing are all types of Wudang Kungfu. Wudang Sword is regarded as Wudang’s priceless treasure. Taiji Sword, Liuhe Spear, Baihong Sword are also famous Wudang weapons.
Qigong
Soul-Particle Type (spontaneous type) is said to have been practiced by real ancient witches and wizards who believed that inside the human body exists the “soul particle”, a necessary matter of the human soul and a carrier of human sub-consciousness. The key to exercising this is to let one’s soul particle control oneself and to let one’s subconsciouness make spontaneous moves, so that the human potential energy can be strengthened through the exercises. The exercises were chiefly used to cure diseases and injuries of oneself and others. Its representative exercises are the Soul-Particle-Motion Technique.ýThe Internal Elixir Type was originally founded by Daoists as a part of alchemy. But also some Confucian scholars took part in it on the basis of the ideas in the “Book of Changes”. So, this type was a mixed product of Daoists and Confucian scholars, which was greatly improved. Exponents of this type believe that practicing this type of exercises will result in longevity, as if one has taken the elixir. Because of this belief and the pursuit of people for longevity, the Internal Elixir Type has become the mainstream of breathing exercises. It has formed a complete, complicated system aiming at the “great way” or longevity, not at any magic power.

Lin Kong Jing and Iron Palm
Article by Tommy Hsu
Invest period in the fighting techinques community and you will gradually come across a referrals to something known as “kong jing,” which indicates “empty power,” or it’s typical American name, “no touching knockouts.”
From a chance to time, individuals will pop up declaring to be able to switch, or hit individuals out, without holding them. They do this by using dangerous qigong (chi gong) expertise with which they can change other individuals qi. Going and banging out other individuals are just or business presentation, but the objective of this art is to be able to quit a dangerous enemy without holding him, essentially while he is still far away and cannot harm you.
A easy YouTube look for will expose many demos of this “skill.”
Most of the classes are very similar: the expert does some workouts to cost up his qi, and one or more of his learners will come up for the business presentation, and he will use his qi and objective to cause his student to switch, and often even hit the student again a few feet!
One element you will see is that all of these demos almost always take position with learners from that particular university. In the unusual circumstances when other individuals have been used, whether visitors in the visitors, or competitors from another university, it tends to not function. Again, you can see most of this on YouTube, together with a very well-known video where a no touching ko guy pushed an MMA killer, and the MMA killer defeat him up very horribly because none of his kong jing or clear power methods proved helpful.
Ironically, it is possible to impact individuals without holding them, create them switch and even hit them out, but it has nothing to do with kong jing, qigong, or clear power, and has everything to do with the energy of recommendation. Mentalists and hypnotherapists can illustrate the same technique without attributing it to “qi energy.”
Some learners can also be assured that their coach has magical energy. You will sometimes see classes where the expert is fending off several learners at once using kong jing. For whatever purpose, these learners have been so assured that their expert can actually do this that it operates on them. But it’s just the energy of recommendation, or perhaps huge hypnotherapy, and has nothing to do with qigong.
So, the only “real” no touching knockouts depend on thinking from the learners or visitors associates. In other terms, it’s not going to function on an enemy who is actually trying to harm you and doesn’t proper value your qigong abilities, and because of that, it’s not really useful at all in any possible martial program.
Not post, there are various individuals (for example, James Randi) who are providing a lot of cash (up to ,000,000) to anyone who can do this in a handled atmosphere. It may not shock you that no one has won yet.

Understanding Energy Healing
Article by Robin. Ive
For a long time, the workings of everything have been viewed from the physical explainable perspective where one thing affects the other through known physical forces and within space and time limitations. This view is also present in health-care where treatment of diseases is only on the symptoms as opposed to the causes. Energy healing techniques acknowledges that illnesses, diseases and conditions have a deeper cause which over time has been identified as energy flow that is present in the body. Energy medicine addresses this energy, which is called qi by the Chinese and prana in India, in its attempt to help the body heal.
The thought here is that the body has energies that flow within it and that help the body in its functioning and that it is the disruption of the flow of these energies that result in illnesses, diseases and conditions. Healing with energy, in the many energy healing techniques, restores this balance and consequently healing the body. This imbalance and disruption of the body energy flow is caused by emotional traumas, psychological stress, and environmental factors like pollution, processed foods, artificial electromagnetic energy, negative thoughts, beliefs and inner conflicts and also through contact with negative energy that may be from other people.
The superiority of energy medicine over conventional medicine is in its wholesome healing as energy medicine, using the many proven energy healing techniques, not only heal the physical manifestations of the illnesses, they also heal the emotional and the spiritual manifestations as well. This is achieved by the fact that energy therapy releases dormant energies in the body allowing them to flow again, revitalizing the weak energies and helping to distribute the energies that were in excess in the body or even one area of the body.
There are many energy healing techniques among them being Reiki, Qigong, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, homeopathy, color and sound therapy. These techniques, beyond being categorically diverse, also have variations in disciplines within themselves and may differ is how they are practiced even within themselves. However diverse the differences, all these energy medicine approaches work with the principle that it is the imbalance, disruptions and blockages to the vibration patterns and energy flows within the body systems that cause illnesses, diseases and conditions and that restoration of the energy balance is the healing process.
In choosing which energy therapy to use, it should be noted that all the techniques are essentially the same and that even in some instance; some healing with energy techniques may be used together for a comprehensive working of the energy medicine. This, consequently, means the choice of which of the energy healing techniques you will choose to use is dependent on which works and is best suited for you.
Before settling on one technique of energy medicine, you may have to try out several energy healing techniques and as such it is advisable that you start with the simple energy medicine approaches or techniques that you can do on your own before moving on to the more complex and specialized energy healing techniques in case the simple ones do not work satisfactorily for you.
